University Grants and Scholarships
Saint Leo University offers a variety of grants and scholarships to; eligible first time in college students (and some eligible transfer students) attending University Campus. Students with questions should contact their admissions counselor or call (352) 588-8283.
University Private Scholarships
These awards are privately-funded scholarships available to Saint Leo students.
Corporate Assistance
Many corporations offer partial or complete financial assistance for employees who return to post-secondary school. According to IRS regulations, your employer may provide you with up to $5,250 each year in education assistance benefits for undergraduate or graduate courses. And many companies will pay 100% of the costs associated with a degree if you are pursuing an area of study directly linked to your current position.
Stop by your employer's benefits department to determine whether they offer tuition reimbursement or other learning incentives. Then call a Saint Leo University enrollment counselor to discuss our online programs.
Outside Scholarship Opportunities
Saint Leo University accepts scholarships from outside sources. Students are responsible for applying and completing the process to obtain these scholarships. When a student receives an outside scholarship, please notify the Student Financial Services office of the scholarship amount and the agency making the award. Saint Leo University is not involved in the selection process for outside scholarships. Saint Leo University does not guarantee that students pursuing outside financial assistance will receive aid from these organizations.
When searching for scholarships, be careful who you submit applications to and share your personal information with. A legitimate company or service would never guarantee or promise scholarships or grants. Nor would a legitimate organization request your checking account, banking information, or credit card number. Be very careful with who you chose to share your social security number with, as well.
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) warns students and parents to be leery of claims that suggest or sound similar to the following:
- “You are guaranteed to win a scholarship or your money back."
- "You can't get this information anywhere else."
- "Submit your credit card or bank account number to hold this scholarship."
- "We'll do all the work - you just pay a processing fee."
- "There is an administrative charge associated with your scholarship application.”
- "You've been selected" by a "national foundation" to receive a scholarship – or "you're a finalist" in a contest you never entered.
Keep in mind that scholarship scams often have very official sounding names. They may have titles that are similar to those used by real foundations, scholarship and grant search services, organizations that sponsor educational funding, or even banking and other financial institutions. Despite an organization having official letterhead or words like “national,” “foundation,” or “federal” in its title, it does not mean the organization is legitimate, or a nonprofit.
Also be cautious of any website or company that requests a processing fee to handle your financial aid application. The only application that will determine eligibility for most federal programs is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) – a form you can complete and submit for free!

Scholarship Resources
Saint Leo University encourages students to explore all options for outside scholarship assistance. Local businesses, foundations, churches, unions, civic organizations, and parents’ employers often sponsor scholarships that can be used toward educational costs.
Students are advised to NEVER pay for financial aid information or scholarship search assistance. Students who receive outside awards or scholarships are required by federal regulation to notify the Student Financial Services Office.
